There are many ways that volunteers can support our good works in the community. In every case, it’s a great opportunity to work together with fellow LOSI supporters and to “pay it forward”. Many of our volunteers say that they’ve formed life-long friendships through volunteering for LOSI.

Here are some examples of where help is needed:

Event Set-up and Take-Down.
Many hands are needed prior to our events for set-up, and after the event for clean-up. Usually an hour or two of help is needed, and you’re free to enjoy the event itself such as a concert.

Parking Assistance.
We’re always in need of additional folks to help with parking. All that’s needed is a smiling face and the ability to wave a flag and guide folks to open parking spots.

Mailings
On occasion, such as for the annual membership drive, we need dexterous volunteers to help stuff, stamp, and seal envelopes. It’s always a fun and friendly gathering for a couple of hours.

Plantings/Clean-ups
Every year, volunteers are needed to help with spring clean-ups at Heritage Farm, and at Catawissa Nature Preserve. We undertake such gardening tasks as planting, trimming, mulching, and more. The morning effort starts with donuts and coffee, and is capped with hoagies and beverages for all of the volunteers.

Christmas Tree Unloading
Every year, on the Saturday morning of Thanksgiving weekend, volunteers are needed to offload Xmas trees from the delivery truck in order to set them up for the sale. This is also an excellent opportunity to select the perfect tree for your own home before the sale officially starts!
